Mr. White has been breeding rabbits for over 50 years. He currently is breeding D'argents and Himalayans. He has been very generous with information concerning his Bruns.

I learned about  Mr. White's chocolate kit late 06 or early 07. Recently I had the privilege of talking with Mr. White via telephone about his Bruns.

I had an immediate interest in the Brun and I began to feel a surge of excitement, so at that point, I began to promote the Bruns across America. I am very happy in becoming a part of an expanded breeding program and helping fulfill a dream of introducing this wonderful Canadian bred rabbit to the U.S.A. for the first time. Bruns have previously exhisted but due to a lack of interest in the past, they have very seriously waned to the point of being an endangered part of the D'argent breed.

It all started in 2006 when a tiny chocolate rabbit was born to two champagne rabbits at the Lindale Rabbitry.

Got chocolate?

First Brun kit born at Lindale Rabbitry in 06.

Bruns are born a luscious rich chocolate and as they mature the silvering gene begins to create a more mixed creamy-chocolate color with splotches of chocolate sporadically on its body. When the Brun reaches a mature age the photo below shows what they will look like when  they are fully grown.

Brun kits are born solid chocolate but as they mature the silvering begins to mix with the chocolate color until they are colored like the photo above of mom and kits.

Caf'e au Lait-Foundation Brun doe at Southwind

B12, Caf'e au Lait(meaning Coffee and Milk in French) is destined to become my foundation doe at Southwind. Her breeding mate, Le Roi Brun(meaning King Brun also in French) are both awaiting transportation to America for the "Bring Back the Bruns" breeding Program in 08'

I am very fortunate and blessed to be able to start with these rabbits in replenishing America with the Rare and Endangered  Bruns currently being bred in Ontario's Lindale Rabbitry and  Bruce Helliker's Rabbitry also located in Canada.. At this point, another BBB Breeder, Brenda Schuster and her son, Ryan, from Iowa have a trio for their future breeding program. Breeding stock will be on a limited 'first in line' basis for BBB members only.

I encourage anyone who is seriously wanting to become a part of the "Bring Back the Bruns" Breeding Program to contact me to discuss this program.
